Our Pets
We Only Love Dogs
In September of 2016, we adopted our first dog together. We named him Toby. I never had a dog growing up, and Devin had a few dogs in his home growing up, so together we took care of Toby. He is a Shih Tzu, with some poodle and possibly a type of terrier with how much energy he can have. When we first saw him, he was a mess. He was stinky and full of matts. I felt bad for him and he seemed to be very sweet. Devin didn't want to adopt him, he is used to bigger dogs and not a 15 pound fluffy thing. The first few months were a major adjustment period, but I grew to love him as well as Devin. We were in our first place, which happened to be an apartment, and we decided that the place is not suitable for a dog. We then moved to the house we are in now, with a yard for him to run around. Later on, we thought about getting a second dog for Toby to not be alone, so in June 2017, we adopted Roxy. Roxy's mother was a rescue and gave birth to Roxy and three other pups. Both of our dogs gets along really well.
Toby
Toby came into our life in September of 2016. He is around 15 pounds and he was, at the time, about three and a half years old. He has separation anxiety, more so when we first got him. He has gotten way better at us leaving the house. Before, when we leave, he would scream and cry really loud. Now, he is at peace, probably because we show him time and time again that we always come home. He loves to cuddle and have his belly and backend scratched. He doesn't like being touched on the face and feet, he tries to shy away, which makes him difficult to give baths and take to the groomers. With that said, he does not like baths, or going outside when it is wet or raining. He does have a huge habit of jumping on people and getting too eager to meet other dogs. We use a sound remote, which deters him from doing certain things since he does not like the noise of it. Humans can't hear this sound. He gets anxiety when there are loud noises that resembles gun shots, like fireworks. He will tremble and pant and refuses to leave our side. It has something to do with his past that we do not know about. He is a very sweet and loving dog.
Roxy
Roxy came into our lives in June of 2017. We adopted her when she was four months old. We figured out later that she is a Carolina Dog, which is a type of dog breed that was recently domesticated around 40 years ago. They are pack animals, and she loves us and Toby. She started off as the same size as Toby, and now she is over 30 pounds, which is twice as much as Toby. She is a skittish dog, but she will never hurt anyone, she'll stay away from unknown things and people. She loves her family, and she has a huge personality, loves attention and loves to cuddle. She will grunt and paw at us till we give her attention. She also loves to dig and tear apart things, like flip flops, blankets, toys, anything she can bite into. When we take the dogs to the dog park, Roxy runs around to her hearts content, that is until Toby gets tired. She depends on Toby to have fun. She does not like dogs that are too playful. Other dogs chasing her makes her scared and she starts to bare her teeth and growl. She never bit any other dog, she is just a coward, more so when we are around. She doesn't know how to go to the bathroom while leashed up, so going on road trips is a little more challenging. She absolutly loves nature, so she often begs to be let outside to the backyard.
